Last updated Apr 10th, 2025
Overview
Common Room’s Gong integration helps you turn conversational signals into revenue-driving actions.
Whether you’re syncing contacts into Gong Engage Flows or importing insights from recorded customer calls, this integration gives your go-to-market teams deeper context, faster research, and more personalized outreach—all from a single workspace.
With this integration, you can:
- Sync contacts from Common Room into Gong Engage to help you easily prioritize, personalize, and automate your account-based outreach, so you can quickly move those tasks forward and focus more on selling.
- Import Gong call data (call briefs, key discussion points, and participants) to enrich contact profiles with high-signal conversational intent.
Setup
- Open Settings and select Gong from the list of signals
- Select “Get set up” and we will reach out to walk you through how to connect your account.
When setting up Gong with Common Room, you will have the option to choose whether to import Gong calls and/or enable your users to add Contacts to Gong Engage Flows.
Requirements
The Gong integration with Common Room is available as a part of our Business Integrations package. To use this feature, you’ll need Admin permissions in Common Room and an admin profile in Gong to generate a master API key.
When connecting to Gong Engage, leads/contacts need to exist in your CRM before they can be synced to Gong Engage, which means CRM connection is required to have Common Room add Contacts to Gong Engage Flows. This will automatically work if you use Salesforce, but if you use Hubspot, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
Creating an API Key
- Navigate to “Company settings”
- Select “API” from the “Ecosystem” group
- Select the “API keys” tab
- Click “Create” and note down the Access Key and Access Key Secret
- Please also note down the “Base URL for API calls”
- Send your Customer Success Manager the Access Key, Access Key Secret, and the Base URL for API calls via Doppler
Technical Details
Gong Calls
When Gong call imports are enabled, all Gong calls will be imported into Common Room. For each Gong call, a "Hosted a call" activity will be created for the host of the call and a "Participated in a call" activity will be created for all participants. Contacts and activities will only be created for Gong participants that have a valid email.
Gong Engage
When Gong Engage is integrated with Common Room, we’ll automatically create People and Accounts for Contacts added to a Gong Engage Flow from Common Room. All Contact and Account matching and creation is done within the connected CRM, which Gong will then pull records from.
People are created only if they don’t already exist in Gong Engage with the primary email we have in Common Room. In this case, we’ll create the Person along with their name, title, company, LinkedIn profile, and location.
Accounts are created if we cannot match the Account domain in Gong Engage with the one in Common Room. In this case, we’ll create the Account along with the company name and domain.
Add one or more contacts to a Gong Engage Flow
You can add one or more Common Room Contacts to a Gong Engage Flow directly from Contacts and Segments.
Open a Contact list in either Contacts or Segments:
- Select the Contact(s) you want to add to the Gong Engage Flow, then click “Add to Gong flow”.
- Select the user you want the Flow to be sent from.
- Select the Gong Engage Flow to add the Contact to.
- Click “Add to flow.”
Only Contacts who have a primary email address (typically a business email address associated with the Contact's organization) can be added to a Gong Engage Flow. When adding multiple Contacts to a Flow, we recommend filtering the list of Contacts to only those who have a primary email address.
