Upload Contacts and Organizations Integration Guide

Overview

Organize the custom Contacts and Organizations that you upload into Common Room for easy access and filtering.

Setup

  1. Open Common Room.
  2. Navigate to Settings → Signals.
  3. Select "Upload contacts and organizations"
  4. Select whether you are uploading contacts or organizations
  5. Name your signal with a descriptive name
  6. Upload your data

Uploading contacts

  1. For contacts, you will upload an approved file type that follows our formatting template


    The following member fields are currently supported:
    • Email
    • Identifier
    • Full Name
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Company Name
    • Company Domain
      • The company domain must contain at least one . in the url, and should be formatted as one of the below:
        • optional http(s): (https://youtube.com)
        • optional www prefix: (ex: www.commonroom.io)
        • No paths or query params (ex: https://www.commonroom.io/docs/get-started/)
        • Safe rfc3986 characters
    • LinkedIn URL / Handle
    • Github URL / Handle
    • Twitter URL / Handle
    • Discord Username
    • Website URL
    • Location
    • City
    • Country
    • Region
    • Avatar URL
    • <Custom field>
  2. Match Contact data to existing Contact fields in Common Room.
  3. Review Contact data prior to completing your import.
  4. Complete your data import after you've matched and reviewed your Contact data.

Uploading organizations

  1. For organizations, you will copy / paste your list of organization URLs into the Add organizations dialog. We support uploading up to 500 organizations at a time
  2. Review Organization URLs to ensure that they are correctly formatted with a single url per line
  3. Complete your data import to see your organizations in Common Room 

Requirements

The CSV signal with Common Room is available on Essentials, Team, and Enterprise plans.

FAQs

Is there a way to bring in a contact's title via a CSV import?

No, not currently. The best workaround would be to import the contacts via a Zap via the process in our Zapier Integration Guide.
