Merge Contacts
Last updated Aug 28th, 2024
Overview
When a new source is integrated into Common Room, we'll automatically work to merge any Contacts that match those already in Common Room using our Person360™ identity resolution engine. However, if we don't have 100% confidence in a match, we'll propose Contacts for you to review and merge. You can also merge any two profiles from the Contacts page.
When to Merge Contacts
Proposed merges are most often suggested when there are new Contacts in Common Room, particularly when data from a new source has been imported into Common Room.
Whenever you receive a confirmation email that we’ve finished importing your new data into Common Room, it's a best practice to manage your proposed merges as soon as possible.
Proposed Merges
- Open the Contacts page from the left-hand navigation.
- Click on proposed merges in the top-right-hand corner of the screen.
- Use the arrow navigation to quickly cycle through each proposed merge.
- Click yes to approve proposed merges after you've reviewed the Contact details.
- Click no to deny proposed merges that don't appear to be the same person.
When we detect possible issues, we'll display the reasons for those issues, and highlight the relevant Contact data related to them.
Manual Merges
In addition to using proposed merges, you can manually merge any two Contact profiles directly from the Contacts page.
- Open the Contacts page.
- Select two Contacts from the Contacts page.
- Click merge and confirm if the two selected Contacts are the same person.
FAQ
How does Common Room automatically merge profiles?
We use our identity resolution model to analyze shared Contact details from your existing and new sources. If we don't have 100% confidence in merging a new profile with an existing one, we'll propose merging those members with you.
How do I unmerge Contacts?
To unmerge Contacts, submit a request to the Common Room Support team for additional assistance.
